One part of my job I enjoy most is helping tell a story before anyone speaks a word on stage. That’s what I get to do when I work with American playwright, Jay Huling.
Jay writes fast, sharp comedies with strange turns and just enough absurdity to keep you guessing. His latest play takes place in a Las Vegas honeymoon suite. Chaos follows. Expect bathrobes, ripped clothes, cracked furniture, and a housekeeper who sees too much. It’s a farce. And there are a lot of towels.
To represent the play, I aimed to capture the feel of the script—loud, funny, a little wild. I looked at the setting: a wrecked hotel room. I thought about the characters: a woman trying to stay covered, a man nursing a brutal hangover, and a cheerful housekeeper peeking through the door. The energy? Unhinged but fun. Plus, Jay loves anything with a 1960s vibe.
Images like this do more than decorate a lobby. They set the tone for the show. They give producers, audiences, and theater folks a glimpse of what’s to come. When the script has this much personality, it’s a pleasure to match.
