Question

How do I do a Clean Install with Snow Leopard? I’m having a lot of computer problems and need to reinstall my system.

Answer

Macintosh system installs before Snow Leopard had three different ways to install your system.

  1. Clean install (wipe your entire hard drive)
  2. Normal (update your currrent System Folder)
  3. Archive and Install (moves your current system folder and give you a clean one)

Now your options are #1 (Clean Install) and #2. (Normal Install)

If you are having a lot of problems with your computer running smoothly after your Normal upgrade, I would back up and do a Clean Install (Erase your computer and Install a new system).

Here is a video on how to do it. I would have made my own tutorial, but this guy’s voice is much nicer than mine with great accent.

…and here are some written instructions for doing a Clean Install if you’d rather read.
