What are correct resolution measurements for my iPad?

October 18, 2010 / Updated: October 18, 2010 / Lena Shore

Can you help with the correct page size to use for the iPad in app InDesign > new document (Picas and Points or cms) I found the iPhone size using google, however having difficulty finding the size of the iPad.

  • 768 x 1024 pixels
  • 768 x 1024 points
  • 768 x 1024 pica
  • 27.09 x 36.12 cm

Don’t forget to swap the values if you are wanting horizontal measurements. (:

What is the correct resolution for iPad wallpapers?

Because the iPad can rotate so you use it vertically or horizontally, you have to make your wallpapers square. Your wallpaper won’t resize, it just re-crops the image . When searching or making your wallpapers, you want to find images that are 1024 x 1024. Then make sure they will look good at both 768 x 1024 and 1024 x 768.

Thanks! Great information to know. However, you’ve given us info for the screen size and not the resolution. With the higher quality of display that the new iPads have, I’ve been reading that the resolution needs to be 132 DPI — not the standard web 72.

    Just trying to be helpful.

    Thanks again!
